I was wondering is this "small box" release UK or USA release? I can't figure it out. Thanks for the information.

As I recall, the small box was UK.

Do you happen to know why they made a decision to print this small box version and how rare this version is compared to normal big box of Last Crusade? Which one was more common version in Europe?

No idea why they decided to have it so small, assume it was done to save on overall manufacturing and distribution costs for US Gold (as small as possible while still being able to fit the 5.25" floppies and all the docs)...

I'd say the ratio is about 50% Big boxes / 50% Small boxes (for all releases).

The smaller version of the IBM release is quite rare (more common seeing "stripped" USA versions in the UK), I presume this is because they didn't sell as well as the other releases and not nearly as many copies were made (Amiga and Atari were much more popular than IBM in UK at the time).

US Gold distributed games all over Europe and all the country specific releases I've seen seem to be a mix of the two...

I bought this one fast without proper knowledge of the box on sale but it turned out to be IBM PC version in pretty great condition. It`s really tight package with all those 5.25" floppies, hefty Grail diary etc stuff inside and it weights 279 g. Old prize tag: 359,00 finnish marks.

I'd say this was a great purchase (this would be the most desirable of the small boxes), these are a whole lot rarer than the USA 5.25" IBM releases. but since so many collectors only collect the USA IBM releases, the USA big box is more sought after.

Yep, really good purchase then :)

Have anyone of you seen any sealed small boxes during the last few years?

Good question... I don't remember ever seeing a factory sealed small box copy (of any format)....
